NIN new song leaked

NIN just leaked a new song here in Portugal and Spain (the information is not really accurate) on an usb thumb drive left intentionally in the bathrooms. Apparently, it’s all part of a bigger picture, an alternate reality game to promote the new album (Year Zero) built around it’s concept. Apart from the song (and the hidden image on it, found using a spectrograph), there are “future websites”, and information on the 2007 tour t-shirts (i have one of those, with the “numbers”), which led to the websites and a phone number. You can read all about it here.

And by the way, their show was great !

The whole concept behind this new album release is just great.

You know what? It reminds me of the hype just before the release of Blair Witch Project movie. There were news all over the net about some students being lost, a tape that “was found” on Josh’s car and that even got released as a CD… Do you remember?

I went to the first and again to the last shows and loved them! They were in great shape.

What do you think of the song? I think it’s kind of crappy, I hope the rest of the album is a LOT better than this sample.

    @ JP Antunes:
I was not really much into anything (movies, whatever) at that time, but yeah i remember there was a lot of hype behind that. Massive Attack also had a nice flash based site with a DOS like command prompt when they launched 100th Window with a lot of hidden stuff.

    @ Jose Marques:
I actually liked it a lot. Have you heard the sample from Survivalism ? It’s also on that link i posted (1-310-295-1040 PHoneMessage.mp3), and it seems awesome. Judging from these two songs, the album looks like it’s more “electronic”, like Preety Hate Machine. Besides, it’s a “concept album”, so i expect a lot from it :)
