From May 14th to 17th the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal (which i attend) will be hosting the 2007 edition of the Euro American Conference on Telematics and Information Systems (EATIS). Given the fact that I’ll be helping out with the organization of the event, i’ll be able to attend all the events for free :). If you’d like more information about it, just visit the website.

Next Wednesday i’ll be presenting a workshop about Revision Control System (using Subversion as a more practical example) at my University through the N??cleo de Estudantes de Inform??tica (NEI for short) which i’m part of since it’s recent founding, about a year ago. You can learn more about the event visiting our website.
The NEI is a group of students from my University which have come together to develop different activities and projects related to computer science. Apart from smaller things, we’re trying to have a series of technical workshops in order to get other students interested in stuff they wouldn’t normally know about through what’s lectured on the courses. For some students, this might be the “push” they need to feel more interested in computer science and maybe take part of our activities as well. We’re also helping in the organization of a larger conference called EATIS, but i’ll have a more detailed post on that later.
This will be my first experience presenting a workshop about something (well, not really the first, but the first serious one) and i just hope i won’t screw up. I’m not really an expert in Subversion. I’ve just started using it some months ago, and as someone said some day, the best way to learn about something is teaching it, so by presenting this workshop i’m also learning a lot of new stuff i’m finding out while i’m preparing it. If it comes out right and if i like the experience, maybe i’ll present another one about some other subject. In the meanwhile, as part of the NEI, i’ll be helping in coordinating other workshops we’ll have presented by some guests, some of which are currently students (the same way as i am) and others who have been students at this University in the past.
Hope to see a lot of people there :)
