Never forget this kids !
April 14th, 2007Feisty is great, but it’s still beta. And he’s so right. I see this crap everyday, specially on the Ubuntu IRC support channels where i lurk. People install Ubuntu+1 alphas and betas and they go there complaining and saying Ubuntu is crap just because they can’t understand the concept of Beta. Same thing goes with XGL/AIGLX/Beryl/Compiz/whatever. It’s mostly usable, yes. But it’s not final, it can still fail sometimes. Always remember that.
And i’ve also had my share of beta failures, and i knew the risks, and i knew what i was doing.
But the worst part is: everyday i see experienced users telling newbies that it’s ok to install Ubuntu+1, and they always forget to give them “the warning”. Always remember that they are newbies. Most of them will panic if for some reason X fails and they have to type in some commands to reinstall or reconfigure something. And most of them will get pissed off and invade the IRC channels and start whining about it.
So never forget !
